Kinderpod In Action: Making It Easy To Get Out And About

Being cooped up indoors is no fun.

But, having to load and unload 4 (or more) children from your vehicle every time you want to go on a short excursion is a pain in the you-know-where.

Luckily, you don’t have to put up with all that buckling and unbuckling of carseat harnesses and finding a park!

Instead, you can quickly with ease leave a nursery or early child care centre.

Ever wondered about which multi seat stroller you should choose?

Well, you won’t have to wonder anymore after reading this. We sat down with Carrie Wilson, an in-home educator with Little Red Fox ECE in New Zealand, who has been using a Kinderpod stroller for the last year.

Check out what she had to say about how it helps her keep active, teaches her kids vital life skills, and makes it super easy to do everything she needs to do in a day.

Life Is Made For Living

The world is your oyster when you are a young learner toddler or a preschooler. There are so many things to see, explore and do. Unless you are stuck playing in someone’s living room or the same space day in and day out, of course.

Luckily, the kids in Carrie’s care don’t have to worry about being bored. They are out learning with an adventure to the park, play groups, the museum, or any number of other places every morning of the week.

“I have a total of 7 different children in my care, their ages range from 11 months to 4 years of age. Every day, I will have 4 children with me. Having grown up on a farm and lived my life outdoors, I didn’t want to be stuck in my living room all day. I also didn’t want to have to bundle all 4 kids into the car every time I wanted to go out - like I have seen so many other educators have to do.

I wanted the kids in my care to be able to experience the outdoors. My KinderPod helps me to do that. Every day, we are able to get out of the house between 9am and 12pm. I do between 15,000 and 20,000 steps a day just from being out with my kids.”

Discovering KinderPod

When Carrie first started her childcare business in September 2020, she knew she was going to need a multi-seat stroller to get out and about with the kids. But, didnt know if even such a stroller existed for her requirements.

One of her friends already owned a KinderPod, so Carrie asked if she could borrow it for the day to see if it would work for her needs. It was love at first sight with Carrie admitting, “as soon as I saw it, I knew that I wanted one too!

There were three things that really sold me on the KinderPod - buying one meant that I got to support my own backyard by buying from a Kiwi business, it was incredibly sturdy, and it would allow me to do all the things I wanted to do with the kids.

We do a lot of park and bushwalks and the KinderPod handles ramps, wooden walkways and curbs like a pro. In fact, I call it the 4WD! It fits through most standard doorways - I have only ever encountered one situation where the venue had to open the double door for me, and that was in an old building. I take it everywhere.

With 4 kids on board, it is slightly heavier to push than a regular stroller, but still very manageable. I have 5 different seating options - the standard double pram, as well as the double on top and a recliner seat in back. It means I can seat multiple kids who are a range of different ages easily.

Having 4 kids with me means bringing a lot of stuff. But, the KinderPod makes it so easy. I can carry 4x lunchboxes, 4x changes of clothes, 4x spare diapers, and anything else we need.

When one of my kids managed to kick off the buttons that hold the cover on the KinderPod, Patricia’s service was amazing. Within a couple of hours, she was in touch with me to sort the issue. Plus, ordering a seat on behalf of my friend was a total breeze. Patricia was brilliant - she was happy to talk about the pros and cons of the different options. It was great to have that personal touch when purchasing.”

Learning Important Life Skills

Nature is an amazing teacher. And that is one of the reasons that Carrie and the other educators at Little Red Fox ECE are always spending time in nature with the kids in their care. By being an in-home educator, Carrie loves that she can help her kids learn valuable skills useful in daily life.

“A lot of educators I know have to drive everywhere. With my KinderPod, I feel like I can do things that other educators can’t. When I am out with my kids, we can have lots of discussions about what we see and experience. We also get to learn simple life skills such as road rules. In a different environment, kids would not learn these valuable skills.”
